On June 29, members of the Help Employees Endowment Fund Committee (SSEFC) gathered to plant a tree that was gifted to them in 2019 by McGill College in recognition of the UM Help Employees Studying Alternate.

To honour the spirit of McGill’s present to the College of Manitoba and to acknowledge the training change program, the committee planted the tree alongside Curry Place.

Les Wellwood, UM arborist was certainly one of 20 members on the 2019 Help Employees Studying Alternate, additionally recognized by its acronym SSLE.

“Within the fall of 2019, I had the chance to spend a day with the grounds supervisor at McGill College in Montreal through the Help Employees Studying Alternate,” he says.

“The day included a assessment of their seasonal operations and procedures, adopted by a tour of the grounds and the various tree assortment on campus. On the finish of our day, I used to be offered with a number of seedlings from their nursery.”

Andrew Popiel, Co-Chair SSEFC notes that the tree planted will symbolize the continued progress of the Help Employees Endowment Fund and the continuation of the Help Employees Studying Alternate.

Members of the Help Employees Endowment Fund Committee stand close to the newly planted tree on UM’s Fort Garry campus.

“Identical to this tree, now we have robust roots that may enable us to flourish for many years to come back,” he says.

“Thanks to McGill College for offering us with this tree to commemorate the 2019 SSLE to McGill College and encourage future assist employees studying exchanges to come back. Thanks to all of those who have nurtured the work of the Help Employees Endowment fund over time.”

Darlene Smith, Affiliate Vice-President (Human Sources), says, “The assist employees that participated within the 2019 Studying Alternate to McGill College solid robust relationships with their counterparts, whereas bringing again invaluable assets and knowledge to their schools and departments.”

 

The UM Help Employees Endowment Fund was established in 1988 for the aim of supporting actions regarding skilled growth for assist employees. A kind of actions is the annual Help Employees Studying Alternate,  a chance for our assist employees to journey to a different U-15 college and change concepts and community with friends about greatest practices when working with college students, colleagues and the broader campus group.

The SSEF committee is planning to convey again the training change alternatives in 2023 after this system was placed on maintain through the pandemic.
